Waterfowl are stopping over on their migration north to their breeding grounds and the Canada Geese have arrived back in droves.Bronte Outer Harbour Marina

Fishermen can be seen on Fisherman's Wharf again and in small rowboats near shore.

Soon the park will be filled with children running and families having picnics on sultry spring evenings.

Boaters will be cleaning their newly launched boats and greeting one another again after many months of not seeing one another.

Bronte Waterfront Heritage Park is a peaceful place to relax and take in the sights and sounds of spring returning to the beautiful city of Oakville.

Spring is in the Air in Oakville.

Spring is in the air today in Oakville.

Ice and snow are retreating and the waterfowl are returning from their winter vacations.

It was the perfect day to take a drive through Old Oakville and head down to the Lake Ontario shore.

A lone kayaker took advantage of the beautiful day and braved the choppy lake.
The Mallards are arriving back from their winter vacation south.

Oakville Waterfront - The Soothing Effects of Water on Stress Reduction

Oakville Waterfront - The Soothing Effects of Water on Stress Reduction.

Minimizing the impact of things we have no control over is what life is all about. It’s what will help you weather the inevitable storms and come out of them still healthy and with peace of mind.  Stress is the number one killer of the human race.
It impacts every single part of our life.  You may not be able to control the stressors in your life, however you can alleviate the damage the stressors have on your body, mind and soul.

In difficult times it is more important than ever to practise stress-reducing activities. Riding out the storm is something you have no choice over; however the choice is yours in whether you want to ride it out paddling madly in a topsy-turvy canoe or in the peaceful berth of a sturdy Cape Islander 'fishing boat’.

The Soothing Effect of Water
~ We are water beings. We begin in a warm and fluid environment floating and cushioned,      safe and warm and our bodies are 60-80 % water. We are naturally drawn to water and it has a great soothing      affect on us.

We find our souls calmed and our confusion and sadness alleviated when we gaze out on the glassy surface of a calm lake in the morning.

Clipping along the waves in      a sailboat brings us a feeling of freedom and release.

Walking along a beach restores our sanity and helps us to put things into perspective.
Once again, we realize and accept that we are natural beings, and  feeling calm and relaxed is a natural and healthy state of mind.

We are able to mimic  the effects of water in our homes      by installing backyard fountains      and little pools.

Taking long      bubblebaths while listening to calming music carries us to another place      that we long ago forgot.

Listening to the tinkling of little waterfalls, be they real or emanating from a little artificial electric waterfall on our bedside table, soothes our inner voices and touches that primal place within our being, reminding it to once again let go of the cares of the day.

Accepting and nurturing our relationship with water is something easily within the reach of every person and one which will bring great peace during times of stress, sorrow and confusion.

Take advantage of Oakville's beautiful waterfront whenever you are feeling stressed or in need of some quiet rest and relaxation. Oakville has beautiful beaches, marinas and waterfront parks all waiting for you to visit.
