In the thick of winter, when the wind is howling outside the window behind my desk, and I'm cosy and warm typing away at my computer, I like to dream of the places I visited in the summer.
Oftentimes I'll go through my picture files and gaze for a few minutes here and there at photos I took. This brings back memories of those places and I vow to myself to spend more time at each of my favourite places this coming summer.
Here's just a few of them in and around Oakville and Burlington:
Bloodroot blooming in early spring at Hilton Falls Conservation Area
Wakerobins blooming in early spring at Hilton Falls.
Niagara Escarpment spring run-off. See what we have to look forward to?
My little friend at the marina. He comes to visit every evening when I am drinking my tea on the boat.
Just a few photos taken around Halton that remind me of how beautiful and special it is around here.
I want to post a lot more, however HOUSE is on now and I have to go and watch it!

Oh Jo, this is what I live for. Celebration of Mother Earth. I also look for summer's bounty and Springs' first stir....you are so in-tune with Nature and I particularly appreciate that!
Jo, I am missing the Spring and Summer myself. Tomorrow is Groundhog Day, I wonder what Phil will have to say :)
Jeanean,
Yep, I'm a nature nut and have been from the time I was able to walk and explore.... I'm so glad to know you....a true kindred spirit!
Jo
oh Carole,
I had forgotten all about Groundhog Day....here we have Wiarton Willy, the albino groundhog. I think we're in for an early spring. What do you think?
Bundle up!
Jo
Jo,
You've got some absolutely spectacular photos.
Jo - ahh the days ... Waker Robins ... We had a few in our yard in Uxbridge but I did not know their name we just called them purple trillium's.
Jo - Thanks for sharing memories of warmer days, especially on the very cold snow-free days we've been having for the past several days. Brrrrrr.
Jo,
Great photography. Once we move into Spring, ther should be a lot of new opportunities.
Brian
Hi Jo,
Wow. Great pictures, even though they make me long for sunshine and warmer temperatures. LOL
I love the outdoors too and plan to take a lot of pics while walking on the trails with my dog.
Thanks Lynda!
One of these days I'll get an SLR camera and take a nature photography course. Perhaps this year.
Jo
Kathy,
I have heard them called purple or red trilliums too....Wakerobin seems so perfect though, doesn't it?
And they're sooooo beautiful....just like the sight of a robin in very late winter.
Jo
hi Marc,
I think it might be a bit colder where you are than down here in Oakville....keep warm!
Jo
Brian,
true...I can hardly wait. So do you come into Oakville often to watch lacrosse games?
Jo
Pam,
Dog companions are so great for getting us out and enjoying nature...I surely do miss having a dog. What kind of dog do you have? Any pictures?
Jo
Jo-Anne, Great photos. And like almost everyone, they make me long for spring.
hi Gary,
When does spring arrive in your neck of the woods?
Jo
Your photos are getting me through the cold weather. Did you see the cherry blossoms out in Vancouver? No snow for the olympics but beautiful flowers.
Janice,
I haven't been watching too much TV lately...no time, so didn't see that cherry trees were blooming in Vancouver. That's pretty frightening for the olympics!
