Programs for Newcomers to Canada in Oakville.

Are you a newcomer to Canada or plan on soon moving to Canada?

Oakville Public Library, the Canada Revenue Agency and the Halton Multicultural Council offer free courses to help newcomers with citizenship orientation and learning about the tax benefits and systems here in Canada.

On Thursday, February 18th from 6:30 - 8:30pm, Oakville Public Library will be host to a seminar put on by the Canada Revenue Agency. It is being held at the Central Branch.

At this seminar you will learn all about filing a tax return and whether or not you qualify for the GST credit and the Child Tax benefit.
You must be 18 years of age or older to attend this seminar.

On the first Wednesday of each month, the Glen Abbey Branch of the Oakville Public Library hosts 'Citizenship Orientation' classes for those who are working towards their Canadian Citizenship.
You will learn how to complete the application form, how to check you application status and also how to practise for the citizenship test.

The Citizenship Orientation classes are also free, however you must be 18 years of age or older in order to attend. They are held from 1pm - 4pm on the first Wednesday of each month.

It must be very confusing for them when they first move here....I can't imagine re-locating to another country where I didn't really know the language.
