Bronte Outer Harbour Marina - Boat Launch Day for Ronin
The most commonly heard expression amongst boaters this time of year is ' Have you got your launch day yet?'
Today was launch day for Ronin at Bronte Outer Harbour Marina. After a long winter sitting on dry land, she's afloat on her water home once more.

That was very interesting series of photos Jo. Is the Ronin yours?
hi Janice,
For now....although she'll soon be going to a new owner (we've owned her for 2 years now) who lives in Whitby and we'll be looking at smaller sailboats. Ronin is 38' long - a bit big for just the two of us. Ronin II will likely be around 28'-32'....
Jo
Jo - you will miss her she looks like a real dream ..... Kathy and I were down at the bluffs the other day and they are starting to put the boats in but only a few were in so far.
JO: sge is a beauty..like the step by step launching. Now I am itching to do a bit of sailing in the gulf.
I'm sure that the new owners in Whitby will enjoy Ronin. Best wishes in searching for Ronin II.
Hi Jo-Anne,
Ronin looks very happy back in the water where she belongs! Have you heard of trim tabs? My Uncle's father invented them and he owns the company Bennett Marine in Florida. If not, they keep boats level in the H2O when at higher speeds instead of lifting the nose of the boat out of the water. Great pictures of the process of getting out of dry dock. Thanks for sharing! What a beautiful boat!

Jp,
That's a great looking boat. You really need to know what you're doing to control a sailboat like that.
Brian
Jo, I never new you were Sailor....David and I had a Catalina 30 which was just right for the two of us. We could do everything almost from the cockpit. We miss our Intercoastal days!
Oh boy, it's boating season already. I can't wait much longer. It's going to be a great year. When are you inviting me over? I don't have a boat of my own.
Barrie,
I will miss Ronin greatly...we had many adventures aboard and created some very nice memories.
I recall that your brother used to have a sailboat that he kept at Toronto Island. Does he still go sailing now and then?
Jo
hi Lloyd,
Are you a boater? Sailing is so different from power boating.....advantages to each, but certainly environmentally sailing is the way to go.
Jo
Thanks Marc!
Jo
hi Dawn,
The term sounds familiar.....you must come from a boating family. Now I'm curious about 'trim tabs' and how they work....
Jo
Brian,
We've had many good times on Ronin and you're right, you do have to know a fair bit about sailing and boating in general. People interested in sailing can take some excellent courses at Humber Marina.
Jo
Jeanean,
I didn't know you're a sailor too! There are many Catalinas at Bronte Outer Harbour...nice boats and I think a 30' is the perfect size.
My favourite sailboats are the Tartans....just beautiful.
Jo
hi Malcolm,
Once we have another boat, I'll invite you down.....the Quinte region is prime boating area; why don't you look into getting a boat?
Jo
Jo - Barrie's brother sold his sailboat shortly after he got married ..... I don't think he misses it, at least he doesn't talk about missing it.
Kathy,
Did his wife not like sailing? It's great when both people like it, however this is usually not the case, judging by the number of guys who spend a lot of time down on their boats alone.
Boating seems to be one of those things, you're either a boater or you're not.
Jo
Jo,
The best skyline pictures of Toronto can be taken about 5 miles out into the Lake.
Brian
hi Brian,
I've gotten some beautiful shots of the Toronto skyline from the boat when we're sailing over to Toronto Island. We usually make 4-5 trips during the summer there and stay for 2-3 nights each time.
Here's one of the shots I took while we were docked overnight at the island:
